Very Rare Antique Brass WW1 Diver Salvaged Shell from Minesweeper "HMS Mignonette" Overall length 20" Weighs over 3 kilo. Brought up by divers August 1993. A British Flower or Arabis class sloop, she was built in 1916 by Dunlop & Co. at Bremner. She grossed 1,250 tons, measured 267x 33.5ft. and was powered by a triple-expansion engine. Part of the naval anti-submarine force based at Cork Harbour, she was responsible for the part rescue of the crew of the steamer "S.S. Malmanger" 5 days previously. She struck a German mine off Galley Head. Sunk by a mine 17/03/1917. There were no casualties. The unit is in excellent & nicely polished condition for its age and mounted on a custom built wooden plinth with brass plaque engraved with details of recovery.. Great original piece. No major damage, a few dints and marks commensurate with age.
